Fun in the Sun-Play Dough Recipe, Alone Time & a Little bit of Structure

Image
Welcoming Summertime is a fun transition! School gets out, pools open, vacations are planned & the sun is out! We have been enjoying our Costco splash pad in the backyard. Best $30 spent this summer! (Link to splash pad)  We have a few exciting trips planned this month and I'm sure many things we will be learned through those adventures as we figure out summer traveling with littles.  As we navigate summer and really just this season of life with 2 toddlers, it is evident in our home that a little bit of structure is good for everyone. I am not one to love a strict schedule or feel like I’m up against the clock just to check off another box as I go through the day. However, when expectations are uncertain and no one knows what the day will bring, it can cause a little bit of chaos. Here are 3 things I want to implement this month to help reduce chaos so we can really lean into the joy of this season.  1. Morning Activity: This can be an out of the house venture...

Fresh Air, Fresh Produce & Fresh Start

HAPPY WEDNESDAY! It is a busy week in our house but full of great things as we kick off this season of warmer weather, healthier habits & a lot of outdoor time.  Fresh Air   We are following the 1000 Hours Outside model which aims to total 1000 outdoor hours throughout the year. Check out their website here . We are behind as we struggled to get our hours in through the winter months but we are cruising right along, catching up as we have warmer days! We are looking forward to pool days at the grandparents house soon as we have 2 water loving babies on our hands.  With the warmer temps, comes the less enjoyable mosquitos. I'm sharing my all natural bug spray recipe with you below so you have a safe option with no yucky ingredients to use on your family this summer! I have some cute 4 oz bottles for sale for $10 if you'd like one to get  started & you can purchase the oils at the link below to refill all summer long!  Click here to grab your own bug spray...

Springtime is here!

Navigating the Closing of a Chapter We talk a lot about our kids "firsts." The first word, step, trip to the strawberry patch and so on. But we don't talk much about the subsequent words, steps & trips. Why is that? As I navigate my current phase of motherhood, I find myself grieving the firsts of my second, potentially last baby. This is a new experience for me because with my first, I had another baby on the way to look forward to those milestones from the time she was 6 months old.  I'm learning that while those feelings of sadness about a first being over are so valid, "firsts" are not over. As they grow, they experience the same place differently as they have new skills each time they visit. For example, the first trip to the strawberry patch included a ride in the carrier, the next one was full of muddy shoes as she navigated the field herself and this third trip was full of excitement as she picked her own berries & snacked on a few as we pick...

Two Under Two

Image
Today is dedicated to talking about a few things I have learned in the last 6 months of having 2 littles under 2 years old. First of all, I cannot believe my baby boy is a couple days away from being a half year old! The saying that times seems to fly by faster with the 2nd one has totally been true in my experience. I believe partially because it is so much busier around our house and partially because it feels like the oldest was just the size of the baby and now she's walking, talking, being sassy & has a personality all her own. Like when did that happen? Although the days can feel long, the years are certainly short! With that being said, I have 3 tips that are currently making life in our house a little less chaotic.  1. Sibling Play Time: The love shared between siblings is truly a gift. Piper loves interacting with Maverick especially now that he can laugh and play with toys. She loves to tickle him, name his body parts and "teach" him how to do all kinds of ...

How to Help a Postpartum Mama

Image
Today is a topic I am really excited to talk about. I aim to answer this question for any of those who will be welcoming a baby of their own as well as those who want to know how to really be there for their friends in the postpartum period. How can I help a postpartum mama? After having 2 babies in the past 2 years, I have gained first hand knowledge on what is most helpful in those newborn days. Although we are all different and have different needs based on our specific situation, I want to share a few things that I found the most helpful and give some ideas on products to have for yourself or create the perfect mama-to-be gift.  We all know those 3 months after birth can be a challenge. Sleepless nights, soreness, heightened emotions and not to mention the huge shift that is taking place in your home as you adjust to another family member. While it has its challenges, it is also a beautiful time full of newness and growth. I once read that a baby is not the only thing born on t...

NEW VENTURE ANOUNCEMENT

Image
Happy Monday!! Today, I have a fun announcement that I am excited to share! I wanted to let everyone know about this new venture I am on and look forward to sharing more about it. I am officially a YOUNG LIVING BRAND PARTNER!  This means I get to help others ditch and switch products in their homes to safe, non toxic ones and build a community that supports each other in wellness. I have been using these products for years and finally jumped in to the business side and I'm so excited. Being a SAHM most of the time, I have missed working toward goals, working alongside others and advocating for people to live healthier lives. When I learned more about this opportunity, I felt like it was the perfect way for me to jump back into that in a different capacity. I look forward to talking with you to see if there are things you are interested in and how I can help!  Products include awesome supplements, essential oils for diffusing in your home and use on your body, non toxic cleani...

Gratitude

Image
HAPPY MONDAY!!!  I hope your week has started smoothly. This evening I have some thoughts on gratitude to share and a quick weeknight meal you can throw together in a pinch! Hope you enjoy :)  What is gratitude? When I think of gratitude, I often think of the cliche things. You know...the things people say they are thankful for around the Thanksgiving table. Though all of these things are not to be taken for granted and are indeed wonderful blessings, gratitude does not stop there. Gratitude is defined by Oxford Languages as "readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness." When I think about that last piece "return kindness," I recognize that gratitude is much deeper than just being thankful. Gratitude makes us a better person, it heals our hearts, builds community and most of all it breeds kindness. I once was told that gratitude and anxiety cannot coexist. Looking into this concept more, I have learned there are studies that show the brain cannot pro...
